Calera de León is a municipality located in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura. It was founded during the Muslim domination, a period during which it was known as Al-Caxera.
After the reconquest of the area in the 13th century, it came under the control of the Order of Santiago. In the town of Calera de León, you can visit cultural sites of special interest such as the Monastery of Tentudía, the Conventual Santiaguista, or the Church of Santiago Apóstol.
