Don Benito

Don Benito is a municipality located in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura. Although the area has been inhabited since Roman times, the foundation of this town did not occur until the 15th century, and since then, it has been a place of great historical and socio-economic interest in the region.

During the period of the American conquest, Don Benito experienced a significant population increase, which led to the expansion of the city beyond Cerro de San Sebastián and the construction of new and important buildings.

In the 19th century, after the fall of the Old Regime, it became an independent constitutional municipality, and in 1856, Queen Isabel II granted it the title of city.
