Guareña

Guareña is a municipality located in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura. Its origins date back to prehistoric times, having been occupied since then by Tartessians, Romans, Visigoths, and Muslims.

After the Castilian reconquest of the area in the 13th century, the current locality emerged. In this town, there is the largest Tartessian site of the era, El Turuñuelo, where an important cultural complex has been found, the largest discovered so far, and the first human representations of this culture.
