Aldea del Cano is a municipality located in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura. Its population origins date back to prehistoric times, as evidenced by the existence of the Dolmen del Garabato.
It was successively populated by Romans, Visigoths and Muslims, who named it Ibn Khalid. It was reconquered in the 13th century. Important monuments such as the castle, the church and the Santiago of Bencalíz bridge date from this period.
After the fall of the Ancien Régime in the 19th century, it became a constitutional municipality.
