Santa Amalia

Santa Amalia is a municipality located in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura. It was founded in the 19th century by order of King Fernando VII, who named the town in honour of his late wife Maria Amalia of Saxony.

It was established as a new town, following a Hippodamian plan, and includes houses, a town hall, a prison, a school, a church, a cemetery, and farmland.
