La Nava de Santiago is a municipality located in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura. Although the area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, the founding of this town took place between the 13th and 14th centuries.
It was then that La Nava de Santiago, one of the names it originally had, was established, which would be controlled by the chivalric order of the same name. Later, in the 17th century, it was known as La Nava del Membrillo and shortly after as Nava.
In the 19th century, following the fall of the Ancien Régime, Nava was first mentioned as a constitutional municipality.
